Inpatient Walking Group Volunteer (Airedale Centre for Mental Health)

Opportunity image

As an Inpatient Walking Group Volunteer, you will support the Occupational Therapy team at Airedale Centre for Mental Health to provide walking groups for service users to encourage physical activity, connection to the natural environment and introduce people to local community assets that can support well-being upon discharge.

You will come into regular contact with Service Users and will help encourage the walking group members to fully participate in the walking experience - noticing the natural surroundings and promoting benefits of walking.

You will be required to commit to one session every two weeks. Each session will require a time slot of 3 to 4 hours, however, this can be agreed with the service.

As well as the completion of the online mandatory BDCFT Volunteer Induction, you are required to attend the Walk Leader training and face-to-face Volunteer Welcome Workshop which we run on a quarterly basis, in line with our recruitment. For this recruitment the Volunteer Welcome Workshop will be held on the morning of the 21st February 2023. Additionally, for this specific role you will be required to attend the Breakaway training, which will be held from 9 – 12 on 17th February 2023.

These trainings must be completed for you to be able to progress into your volunteering role, so please make every effort to attend. If you have any problems, please speak with your Volunteer Coordinator.
